Detailed Analysis of My Position on Healthcare and Reforming our Healthcare System
After studying this issue for the last 20 years or so, certain facts just keep jumping out at me. Most notably is the fact that we spend billions of taxpayer funds on providing gold-plated health care to illegal aliens. Guess what? We can't afford this madness any longer. I won't bore you with all the facts I have looked at regarding this topic; however, some are essential. The Wall Street Journal, after in-depth analysis, concluded recently that there are at least 20 million illegal aliens on U.S. soil. In 2002 the Texas Hospital Association concluded that Texans had “treated” illegal aliens to a price tag of $393 million dollars. In 2006 the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services did the same in-depth research and they concluded that in 2006 the taxpaying fools of Texas were billed a staggering $596.8 million for treatment of the illegal alien. This amount doesn't even include the portion of these insane bills attributed to illegal aliens that were picked up by the federal and local governments. And that, of course, was paid for by all of us in Texas.
I am going to throw some California statistics and, most importantly, results at you, so that you can see what will happen to us here in Texas if this insanity is not stopped now. Fully one third of all people treated in the densely populated county of Los Angeles, California, are illegal aliens. Another recent study showed that a staggering 90 percent of all babies born in these same hospitals were born to illegal aliens. The bills, ranging from $10,000 to $25,000, just get ripped up by the alien. But it doesn't stop there. Routine emergency room visits for nonsense like colds cost the taxpayer $250 to $500 or more. The illegal alien rips this bill up as well. They are passed on to the taxpayer, and in the case of California, Texans like you and I get suckered again as our federal tax dollars go to cover this insanity. So, what do I think will happen in Texas? The same thing that has happened in California. Between 1993 and 2003, 60 hospitals just closed their doors because they went broke from treating illegal aliens. Another study was conducted in August of 2007 and it found that in the preceding two years a whopping 86 more hospitals went bankrupt in California due to illegal aliens getting treatment, and walking away laughing that fools like you and I were going to be responsible for their bills. This is coming to Texas. As you know, California is also going financially broke, as well as having individual hospitals close. If you want to see our future in Texas, look at California.
Does anyone other than a Democrat or a Liberal Republican truly believe that we can continue spending countless billions of taxpayer funds on illegal aliens and not go broke? Of course not. Kay Granger could have stopped this by voting for HR 3722, which required immediate notification to government authorities of health care being provided to illegal aliens. She chose to vote with her friends, like Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank, and stab her constituents in the back. Any idea why the media didn't ever bring this to the attention of the voters? Because the media is as Liberal as Granger, and having her represent such an intelligent, hard working district is great for them. I will reintroduce and fight for HR 3722.
I think it's pretty clear from my quick position points , as well as my full position, that there is an enormous debt of gratitude that we owe to our military personnel. It's clear and it's a given. What’s not so clear is my position on United States citizens with pre-existing conditions. I will do my best to clarify it. All insurance companies rate people based on a variety of factors such as age, height, weight, blood pressure, smoking status, and much more. They then put this data into various actuarial computer models and come out with the rate they will charge you. Now, for example, let’s suppose we have an otherwise healthy lady and the insurance calculations compute that she will be given a monthly premium of $200 per month. Now let’s suppose that this same lady has a preexisting condition, thus making her an assigned risk (requiring her to pay a much higher premium) or even uninsurable. Here is what I propose. This lady will pay the private (not Marxist government) insurance company of her choice the $200 premium, and receive full coverage. In the event that her preexisting condition does surface, causing economic damage to the insurance company, then the government will step in and pay 100% of the difference to the insurance company. In this example the United States citizen is compassionately taken care of, the free market works, and we do not inflict government intervention, or God forbid, government management, on the insurance company. We merely have given the insurance company a “subsidy,” exactly like we do farmers, airlines, and many other businesses. We have taken all thinking, control, and management away from government, as was clearly intended by our Founding Fathers. This example is exactly the policy I will push for, coupled simultaneously with my insistence that illegal aliens get nothing except emergency care and then a deportation hearing.
Besides the illegal alien, the other major economic drain in our health care system is the insane awards given to vampires called trial lawyers. I'm not for a minute saying that all doctors are perfect—they are not. The ones that fail to perform properly or negligently should be sued. The problem I have is the unlimited amount that can be awarded. In my view, a guy that smokes for 40 years, and then dies of lung cancer, isn't owed anything from anyone. But in the eyes of mindless juries, people like this get countless millions. The same is true regarding lawsuits filed against doctors. We must limit these and all suits. Furthermore, in the cases of Medicaid fraud and frivolous lawsuits that frequent our judicial system and clog it, the trial lawyers behind these schemes should end up behind bars. Medicare and Social Security are going broke for a reason. While trial lawyers, in my opinion, are a drop in the bucket compared to the illegal alien, they still are in the bucket and must be removed from the equation. I don't want to see Texas or America go broke. If we don't act quickly, it will happen. California is the canary in the coal mine. That coal mine is filled with trial lawyers and illegal aliens. Texas is heading that way fast. Please help me stop it before the clock runs out.
Obama's Marxism verses Texas capitalism—to me there is no choice. Should we allow the government to manage our health care system and run it into the ground the way they have Social Security, Amtrack, and the post office? Or do we reject Obama's Totalitarian Marxism and choose the course of capitalism that has allowed us to become the greatest nation on earth? Obama needs to control our citizens, and I will not take this lying down like some pathetic “Republicans” have. Why do you suppose that government loses money hand over fist with entities like Amtrak and the post office? It's because they have elements of Socialism in them. Think about it. Executives at these entities get paid a certain amount of money whether they provide a good service at a good price that shows a profit, or not. If they have a real profitable year by working hard and managing all aspects of the government-run businesses efficiently (by the way, they never do), then at the end of the fiscal year they are rewarded with exactly nothing. Same pay whether they make a profit or take a huge loss. Any losses are absorbed by the usual suspects—the taxpayer. Now, let’s put this same executive in charge of a capitalist firm. If this executive turns in a great year with outstanding profitability, he is rewarded with incentives, from bonuses to stock options.
Why can't Democrats, Liberal “Republicans,” and all of their cousins— the Socialists, Communists, and Marxists—understand this easy concept? Pay a man the same pay no matter what happens and he goes through the motions, if that much. Pay the same man based on performance, whether it be by bonuses or advancement, and this same man gives it all he has. This is exactly why Cuban farmers under Battista exported sugar by the boat load, and why under Castro's Communism the same country, with the same farmers, the same amount of agrable (agriculturally productive) land, and the same amount of rainfall went from exporting sugar to importing sugar in just a few years. The obvious reason is that under Battista, the farmer kept what he made, and under Castro he got paid x-amount regardless of what happened. Obama's Marxism is coming. He has made numerous statements on wealth redistribution. Translation: He expects you and I to work harder and pay higher taxes, so that bums and illegal aliens can sponge off of us. I say “over my dead body!” And I pray to God it never comes to that… but it might. Never forget the staggering 77 million human beings that were slaughtered by the great Communist leader Mao alone. Put Stalin in the equation, along with other Obama favorites like Castro and Pol Pot, and you are easily over 100 million human souls brutally murdered. Marxism always leads to this, and yes I firmly believe that it can happen here. Obama's own words, his assembly of czars that I have detailed, and most importantly, his own actions of the government ownership of banks, automobile manufacturers, and hopefully not our health care system, are clearly out of the Communist manifesto. Hugo Chavez, the Marxist dictator of Venezuela, agrees, as he recently commented: “Obama, by taking over the automobile industry, is to the left of me.” This might be the only thing that will ever come out Chavez's mouth that I agree with. These are dangerous times, my friends. The people of Texas and America need somebody to fight these “people”— not somebody who will take bags of campaign money from them, including the repulsive Leftist Podesta Group that Kay Granger takes money from. It's no wonder that Granger voted against the people of Tarrant, Parker, Wise, and all of Texas and voted with these Democrat/Marxists on passing the Bailout Bill and failing to pass HR 3722. This would have saved Texans billions, while reporting and deporting illegal aliens that are running us into the ground head first.
